What Exactly is the Role of a Door Supervisor?

The primary role of a door supervisor is simply put, to ensure an enjoyable and safe environment for all parties involved in which he or she works. For that reason a door supervisor will need to make use of good judgment when allowing individuals onto the premises. It will be up to a door supervisor to deter those who might cause serious problems once allowed onto the premises.  However a door supervisor will need to maintain good customer relations at all times and ensure not to  offend or put off any possible customers who are just out to have a good time. A door supervisor will always have to ensure that the venue's admission policy in accordance with the law of admissions are endorsed.  This will also included appropriate apparel and age requirements.  Upon entry of the premises, it is a door supervisor's duty to greet all new customers and also bid them fair well once they exit the premises.  This only strengthens any and all customer relations in the long run. A few other roles that will be expected to be performed in the capacity of Door Supervisor;
  • Fire Safety requirements need to be adhered to which includes sticking to the maximum occupancy rules and making sure all fire exits are visible.
